We are excited to announce the launch of
NaSa Historic Racing Series at the Winton Festival of Speed, establishing a combined Grid of early-model Na and SA vehicles, set to hit the track at Winton Motor Raceway, July 24 to 26. Now thanks to Apex Steel with Free Entry for eligible cars.
The proposed NaSa combined pilot class encourages vehicles from Groups Sa (pre-1961 sports cars) and Na (pre-1958 touring cars) that may be sitting dormant in garages to front at Winton, restoring a meaningful platform for older vehicles to participate in one of Australia’s leading historic racing festivals.
With the emergence of later-model historic racing cars, the speed differential between cars has led to diminished competitiveness of older model vehicles. To address the needs of interested owners of older vehicles, we have taken the initiative to create a balanced and safe platform to showcase a golden era of Australian circuit racing. Introducing NaSa Historic Racing Series.
WFOS26 will also further incentivise interested owners of Group Sa and Na vehicles with an additional race on Saturday and Sunday of the event, maximising exposure and tracktime for entrants wanting to compete. Your cross-entry to compete in the NaSa Historic racing Series is FREE. Competitors who wish to only compete in NaSa without a cross-entry in GroupS or GroupN can do so with FREE entry.
The extra class allocation aims to facilitate more choices and benefits for owners of older-model cars, noting that entrants who usually run in regular Group S and N classes can nominate to run in one or both classes, depending on preference. Additionally, there may be an opportunity for slower Group Sb and Nb cars to participate in the proposed class, if a desire or requirement to do so arises. All competitors and owners of Groups Sa and Na vehicles are encouraged to register their entry via the Motorsport Australia Entry Portal, or can reach out to
tom@groupsracing.org.au for more information.
Saturday and Sunday sessions and races of WFOS26 will be broadcast live and free on Blend Line TV, enabling patrons unable to attend in-person to catch all the trackside action, as well as live roaming cameras and presenters capturing all the culture and flavour from around the paddock.
Broadcast times and racing schedule will be announced closer to the event.
The launch of the NaSa Historic Racing Series is being sponsored by Joe Calleja of Apex Steel. Joe is a long-time racer in both Group S and Group N and his generous support for historic racing is nothing short of magnificent. Thank you Joe, you’re a bloody legend.
Over to you Sa and Na drivers, dust off that beautiful race car and get it back on the track where it belongs.
